If you are anything like me, you have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to travel. When choosing where to go next, some things to evaluate are the weather conditions, time of travel, and affordability. Once you have those researched, then it makes selecting your destination options easier.

Flying vs. Driving?

While there are pros and cons to both, here are the major points that come to mind when evaluating which option is best:

  • Gas/mileage cost vs. ticket cost

  • Comfortability

Once you have these items decided, it will make your decision of which is best, easier to identify.

Where to look for lodging?

This really depends on your destination. The biggest concern you should have when choosing lodging is the distance to the places you want to visit. With that being said, if they are very spread out, it can be best to choose several lodging places to eliminate some driving time and devote more time to sight seeing. For example, you may book a place to stay in one area for the first part of your trip, then mid-week, drive to your second lodging to stay for the remainder of the trip. The best go-to places for finding lodging include VRBO, AirBNB, and KOA sites.

How do I afford it?

We pay for what is important to us. I choose to make coffee at home because I would rather put that $5.00 a day to my savings or travel fund. If it is a priority, you will budget for it!
